Starmer’s Middle East delusions!

So today is a truly momentous day in the Middle East and it is ALL thanks to the herculean efforts of President Trump and his team. How it develops we shall see but in the moment, the accolades go to the President.

Unless, of course, you are one of UK PM Keir Starmer’s propagandists. Education Secretary Bridget Philipson who took to the airwaves yesterday to make the remarkable claim that the British Labour Government played a key role, in the background. Here she is making the wild claim.

This prompted this response from US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.

Dead straight. In fact, the UK along with certain other western nations, almost derailed attempts to get a peace by their foolish decision to unilaterally recognise “Palestine”.

US Secretary Marco Rubio was very clear just how UNHELPFUL the UK and other Europeans had been in pursuance of peace,

“Britain and its allies have only recognised Palestine because their migration policies mean they have been “flooded with foreigners’

He had previously dismissed recent decisions by Western nations to recognise Palestine, by calling them “irrelevant.”

“None of these countries have the ability to create a Palestinian state,” Rubio told Fox Radio in an interview on Thursday. “There can be no Palestinian state unless Israel agrees to it,” Rubio noted. “They can’t even tell you where this Palestinian state is. They can’t tell you who will govern it. And I think number three, it’s counterproductive,”

Bizarrely, UK PM Starmer and French President Macron are both attending today’s summit. So is Canadian PM Mark Carney. All of these “leaders” did everything possible to derail the deal. Italian PM Meloni (who sensibly did NOT recognise ‘Palestine”) will be there too. As will the UN and EU.

I don’t really understand why Trump has invited any of them except Meloni. Starmer will use this to posture and to try and boost his lowly reputation. Can’t Trump see that? Or does he want them there to rub their noses in it? Whatever happens, this is Trump’s moment and I hope it works out for all sides.
