Should the UK atone for slavery, again?

The UN is pushing Britain towards reparations for slavery, but should people alive today inherit guilt for crimes committed centuries ago? I argue that Britain should acknowledge the whole of its history—including its crucial role in abolishing the slave trade—without accepting inherited guilt or an endless historical debt.
