Yesterday saw representatives from Russia and Ukraine meeting in Istanbul for another round of “peace negotiations”, but the discussions yielded zero breakthroughs, emphasising yet again the deep chasm between the two nations. What is really going on here is that these two nations are having performative talks to avert the wrath of Trump but I don’t see them going anywhere soon, and here’s why!
