Putting the Christ back into Christmas!

You might think it strange that some within the Church would be unhappy about an outdoor Christmas Carol Service but that is exactly what happened yesterday,

Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom” event was held in central London and billed as a Christmas carol service to “put the Christ back into Christmas.” It featured singing, speeches, Bible readings, music, and opera performers. Tommy Robinson insisted it was a non-political “celebration of Christianity,” not a protest, with attendees waving Union Jack flags and banners like “Jesus is King”

Now you don’t have to *support* Tommy Robinson to think that a public celebration putting Christ back into Christmas is a good thing. Was there any political trapping to this event? I suppose if we are being honest there was background noise BUT I know some of those who spoke and their Christian convictions are beyond dispute. To be honest, if I lived in London, I might well have gone!

However, Church of England bishops have condemned it! Southwark Diocese called the use of Christian symbols to justify “racism and anti-migrant rhetoric” gravely concerning, urging “compassion over hostility”. The Bishop of Manchester David Walker criticised what he claimed politicising Christmas as a “culture war prop” and rejected “Christmas cancelled” claims!

These so-called Clerics are an abomination. They personify all that is wrong with the apostate Church of England – a church in full denial of the Bible. Any gathering that celebrates the birth of Christ has to be welcomed at a time when Islam in this country is resurgent. For that alone, if for no other reason, Tommy Robinson and all those involved deserve our gratitude.
