Not in your club!

I am a Marxist. A Groucho Marxist that is to say and I instinctively don’t want to be in any club that would have me. Nowhere is this more true than in the political world. Yes, when younger I did play a role in a few political parties and helped frame manifestoes and all that stuff. But I eventually left and there’s a reason for that.

I don’t think ANY political party has a monopoly on virtue. I can see the good and bad in them all. I am not a cultist and will not submit to the idea of the dear leader! Now I can agree that we have been badly served by the Labour-Conservative Uniparty and I share the views of many readers that we need to create something better. That may be Reform under Nigel Farage, it may be Advance UK under Ben Habib, it may be something yet to emerge. And I wish all these alternatives well! However I stand on my own ground, with my own view, and I am not beholden to any “political leader” out there. I suppose I just don’t want to be INSIDE the tend, I much prefer the freedom of being OUTSIDE doing you know what!

Now some people will say that by refusing to be in a political club you are self defeating. How can anything change unless you play a role in the change? That’s a fair comment but I am not so sure that the UK can be changed. All I see is captured institutions, a deep state that is already severe steps ahead of us, and a mainstream media which is toxic. Can change be brought about politically? Maybe, but it’s uncertain as the vast unelected Civil Service holds all the real levers of power. “Yes Minister” was a prophecy as well as a comedy.

I place all my faith in God. I believe that his will will prevail. So even though I cover so much politics, I do so with the attitude of someone who is detached from tribal loyalties. I take every issue on its own merits. I don’t default into thinking what the Party line. Sometimes my view is the same as some parties on some issues. But I want to walk my own path. Always.

Does anyone else feel like this?
