The United States Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program known as SNAP stands as one of America’s most expensive—and most abused—welfare programs. Burning through a staggering $145 billion every year, with over $7.8 billion spent monthly, SNAP’s ballooning costs raise some very serious questions about who benefits and at what social cost.
Instead of “helping the poor,” SNAP has become an engine for dependency. It enables millions to spend liberally without any personal accountability. Incredibly, recipients routinely purchase twice as much in groceries as working Americans. This isn’t because of thrift or careful budgeting, but because they are spending other people’s money, not their own. This structure rewards dependency, not self-reliance.
The program’s scale is astonishing: 43 million people—roughly one in eight Americans—now rely on food stamps. It’s interesting to note 80% of SNAP users are also on Medicaid and 61% collect two or more additional types of welfare.
Foreign-born populations dominate this: 53% of immigrant families use at least one welfare program, and nearly 45% of Afghans in the U.S. benefit from SNAP’s free food subsidies, all courtesy of the US taxpayer.
Did you see recent case of Somalian migrants vocally demanding not just any food aid but publicly funded halal pantries!. The halal food industry, as we have discussed here before, is a political construct designed to push Sharia-compliant supply chains into Western economies. Sadly, corporate acquiescence and litigation have enabled Sharia norms to infiltrate American retail spaces, all funded by public money.
It’s your taxes growing Halal.
Democrat arguments that “illegals aren’t on SNAP” don’t stand up to scrutiny. Mixed-status households, loopholes, and widespread fraud mean that up to 70% of SNAP costs are directly attributable to foreign populations bankrolled by the state. If these benefits were completely withdrawn, as they should be, the incentive for illegal presence would vanish!
“Social justice” is code for taxpayer exploitation. America’s welfare system subsidises the very forces undermining its future—rewarding those who despise its values and funding supply chains that normalise Sharia.
America has to stop this subsidising of its own displacement. It should end welfare for all non-citizen and reject publicly funded Sharia enforcement in all forms.
