Never goodbye, just au revoir!

It’s comical and tragic in equal measure! I’m talking about the SECOND migrant sent to France under the UK government’s “one in, one out” scheme, who has now boomeranged back into the UK by small boat! We count them out and then we count them back!! It’s never goodbye, just au revoir!

The Iranian man was originally removed to France in September as part of the pilot agreement that aims to exchange migrants—returning those who arrived illegally by small boat to France while accepting refugees with “valid” asylum claims directly from France.

However, less than a month after his removal, he’a back to the UK due to fears for his safety and mistreatment in France! Lol – I’m going to France in a few weeks time for a short holiday! What a chancer!

This incident exposes just how badly the government has anticipated the realities of such deportations. Staying in the ECHR means accepting all crap as inevitable. The government’s response that it will “not tolerate any violations of our borders” rings totally hollow. Nobody believes it!

If we look at the operational execution of the “one in, one out” scheme, it reflects governmental disarray. Despite having removed over 40 migrants since the program’s launch (and accepted a similar number from France!!) the rising number of attempted Channel crossings—over 36,900 in 2025 alone, already surpassing last year’s total—shows that the policy does nothing to stem the tide. Nada.

The fact that deportees like this Iranian man can return by the same route within weeks signals that the deterrent effect is failing spectacularly!

A much more robust approach is needed. The Royal Navy should be deployed to stop ALL dinghies. Maybe a submarine could help?
