In the aftermath of the murderous Jihad attack on the Synagogue in Manchester, the UK Muslim community found itself under intense scrutiny. Lots of awkward questions were being asked about the intolerance and hated being shown by *some* Muslims and then, just like that, there were a few “arson attacks” on mosques. INSTANTLY, all the usual suspects jumped on these stories, claiming that the “Islamophobia” being shown towards the beleaguered Muslim population. I urged caution here!
There were at least two arson attacks and one of these was on Kettering Mosque.
Today we discover that Arif Ali Rafiq, from Northampton, will appear in court after being charged with attempted arson at the mosque in Headlands, Kettering.
Whoops, awkward!
Now Arif Ali Rafiq is not the sort of name one associates with white Islamofacscists! In fact, it seems likely that this arson attack on a mosque may have been carried out by a Muslim. So the media have suddenly gone quiet, nothing to say.
Now we don’t yet know who was behind the arson at the Peacehaven Mosque in Sussex and we await more information but as I said last week there IS. a pattern of muslims attacking their own mosques.
For example, there were attacks on five Sunni mosques in Birmingham in March 2019—involving a man using a sledgehammer to smash windows and doors at locations in Perry Barr, Aston, and Erdington—and these were investigated as potential hate crimes by West Midlands Police’s Counter Terrorism Unit.
The perpetrator was identified as Arman Rezazadeh, a 34-year-old Shia Muslim of Iranian descent, who confessed to the police shortly after the incidents. He was charged with five counts of religiously aggravated criminal damage, with the attacks causing an estimated £11,000 in damage and sparking widespread fear in the local Muslim community.
Another case where the media whipped up “Islamophobia” and it proved to be a Muslim attacking the mosques. We would do well to recall that there is intense long standing hostility between Sunni and Shia Muslims and this hatred often manifests as attacks on each others places of worship.
The truly remarkable thing is the TOLERANCE shown by most Brits towards these Islamic communities. But at the drop of a hat, these communities instantly play the Islamophobia card and the hateful media swallow it, hook line and sinker!
