Should you be arrested for posting opinions on Social Media?
I would suggest the answer to that is a categoric “NO” unless, of course, you are in clear breach of the law. I want you to have look at these two X posts from Tommy Robinson and tell me if you think they merit Police investigation.
Whilst I might not choose the language in this meme, I do have sympathy with the sentiment. I don’t accept that “Palestine” exists, Hamas are depraved genocidal terrorists and Islam is incompatible with our western pluralist democracies. Why are the Metropolitan Police harassing Tommy Robinson for expressing opinion that will resonate with millions? Might it be BECAUSE it will resonate with millions? Is his popularity the problem?
Here’s the second post;
I can’t see ANY reason for the Police coming after Tommy Robinson on this one as he is simply pointing out an empirical fact. This primary school is the first in the UK where none of the kids have English as their first language! Where is the offence?
I understand that Tommy Robinson is a marmite personality. My own view is that I like him and stand with much of what he says. Just because he speaks with a working class accent does not invalidate the truth of what he says. I think he is very passionate about the things he believes and that triggers the UK establishment. He has a strong connection with many ordinary Brits and the world will see that next month on the 13th September when he holds his free speech festival in central London.
Free Speech is not negotiable. If they imprison Tommy for his, they will come for the rest of us.
