Ireland chooses extreme leftist as President

It’s sad to see just how utterly politically corrupted Ireland has become. It’s not just the open borders enthusiasm from the political elite, it’s the result of the Irish Presidential race that was announced yesterday, The winning candidate was an ‘Independent” called Catherine Connolly and she becomes the 10th Irish President.

Here is a glimpse of her in action prior to the election,

She was endorsed by all the Irish hard left parties including Sinn Féin. Her campaign emphasised economic justice, Palestinian rights, and EU integration. That’s what excited the voters! But not too many of them, Connolly was elected by 28% of those eligible to vote, and only 20% of the entire Irish electorate! So it is a very thin mandate,

As a self-described pacifist, Connolly supports Irish military neutrality is a critic of what she calls the European “military-industrial complex.” She opposes NATO and the removal of the triple lock mechanism that limits Irish overseas troop deployment. She is also outspokenly pro-Palestine, describing Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocidal and pledging to visit Palestine as president to demonstrate Irish solidarity.

Here she was speaking in the Irish Parliament back in May;

“We are standing idly by while Israel carries out what can only be described as a genocidal campaign. We are actively colluding with genocide when we fail to act decisively under the Genocide Convention and EU law”.

Given that Ireland has a reputation as the most anti-Semitic nation in Europe, you can see her appeal!

Then, we must take a look at what she thinks of US President Trump! Guess what – it’s not good. She has described Trump as “unpredictable, acting like a bully, using tariffs when it suits him” and called the United States under his leadership “an imperial power contributing to global instability”.

Should be fun should he ever visit Ireland.

There is one final thing to consider!

There were 213,738 spoiled votes, an unprecedented number in the history of the contest. This represented roughly one in eight ballots cast, compared to the usual 1–2% spoiled rate in previous presidential elections. Many of these invalid ballots contained protest messages such as “Not my president”! This would suggest that dissatisfaction with the Irish establishment is rising. Hopefully the Irish will rise with it and reclaim their country from all these political frauds – including President Connolly.
