Imagine being Jewish, living in Scotland, and then waking up to this post from the First Minister and SNP leader John Swinney.
The Palestinian flag was raised outside key Scottish Government buildings, including St Andrew’s House and Victoria Quay in Edinburgh.
This is another low in Scottish history as they fly the flag of a Nation which does not exist and which cannot exist. But what reaction did it trigger in Scotland amongst the other political parties in Scotland?
Well, the Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar described the situation in Gaza as “beyond intolerable” and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “war criminal,” implying support for stronger action.
The Scottish Green co-leader Ross Greer welcomed the announcement but urged Swinney to go further by encouraging all Scottish businesses to boycott Israel.
Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton called for both governments to act decisively, highlighting the long-term impact on Gaza’s children.
And the Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay acknowledged the Middle East crisis as a “blight on humanity” but criticised the focus, arguing the Parliament should prioritise domestic issues like improving lives in Scotland.
Yes, putting Glasgow before Gaza would seem a good idea but these virtue signalling clowns in the Scottish Parliament are more concerned about expressing their solidarity for Hamas.
And let’s just be clear about this – the act of “recognising” Palestine is a REWARD for the Jew hating genocidal maniacs in Hamas AND the P.A. There’s no other way to say it. Oct 7th has all been but forgotten by these Caledonian clowns, the Israeli hostages wiped from their memories, and all they can think about is the children of Gaza.
Well, who has imperilled these kids? Answer – Hamas. Their parents have supported this terrorist regime and unfortunately they pay the price for that. This is not fair but it’s reality.
In the final analysis, none of this has anything to do with this devolved Scottish assembly. It has NO international authority or power. However, it is deeply marinated in hatred of Israel and so it instinctively lashes out by flying the Palestinian flag.
I have long opposed Tony Blair’s devolution as it only encourages this sort of Student common room politics.
