Here’s a sad little story.
My oldest grand daughter is in her first year in Primary School. She is a lovely little girl and very fond of animals. This morning, her mother was leaving her to school and on the way in to class, she came across a black and white cat. She made friends with it and I was sent a video of her petting it. The Cat seemed friendly even though cats tend to be very independent. My grand daughter was much taken by this chance encounter.
The School borders a large public park.
Around mid day, the news came through that there had been a distressing incident in that park. A cat had been mauled to death by a dog.
Speaking to a local vet, I understand the cat was the same one my grand daughter had been petting just a few hours earlier.
Isn’t that so poignant?
At 8.45am, the little creature was alive and looking relaxed. Just a few hours later it was gone.
Like my grand daughter, I love animals and honestly believe they bring some of our best qualities out in us.
I didn’t know this little cat but I mourn its death.
