The mainstream media has gone full attack mode on the reputation of Reform candidate Rob Kenyon in the Makerfield by election. That’s a sign that they fear a Reform victory. The line of attack is certain social media posts he made a few years ago BEFORE he entered the political arena. He has subsequently deleted that social media account but the internet is forever and the pearl clutching has been splashed all over the left wing media,
Here’s the bottom line, (sic) people say stupid things on-line! Of course his comment was distasteful but I have seen a lot worse on-line over the years. However context matters.
He had a tiny social account and expressed himself in a way many other young men might down the pub. It was banter. It might be vulgar but it was no more and in MY opinion, he has nothing to apologise for. I listened to Reform MP Danny Kruger gave a rather limp wristed response to the BBC.
Listen, Rob Kenyon can be held responsible for social media tweets mad since he entered politics, but this is a contrived “Gotcha” and should be dismissed as such.
We need more REAL people in political life. If we are going to hold everyone to an impossibly high standard then all we will get is anodyne robots.
