It seems too stupid to be true but I’m afraid it is true. A new report urges Wales to ban dogs from green spaces. What? Yes!
For what reason? To fight racism.
I kid you not.
The insane idea comes from Climate Cymru BAME. This group works on climate action for ethnic minorities and the Welsh government funds it. The proposal ties into their anti-racism action plan from 2022. But, you may reasonably wonder, how do dogs spark hate?
Well, I am afraid the report skips those pesky details. It just lists “barriers” like few green spaces in North Wales. Dog-free zones top the fixes. Others include allotments and more volunteering by minorities . But again, why target dogs? No data links pets to any form of prejudice. Are unleashed hounds chasing ethnic kids away? Or is it sloppy thinking? Or, might there be ONE fast growing minority that does not like dogs?
In much of the Muslim world, dogs are decidedly not man’s best friend. There is a tradition that Muslims are taught that dogs are impure and that black dogs in particular were evil. Might this craven genuflection to Islam be the unspoken motivation behind this bizarre report?
The hard left Welsh Government is committed to “creating an anti-racist nation” by 2030. The Anti-racist Wales Action Plan is “built on the values of anti-racism and calls for zero tolerance of all racial inequality” In other words, it is total bollocks.
The British pride themselves on being a nation of dog lovers and a people who have transformed the lives of dogs. If the choice is we keep our dogs, and lose Islam, I am ok with that! How about you?
