Ayatollah 1 Trump 0

A sharp intake of breath is needed before launching into the American midterm results. It’s still not all over, but in truth is that it is over for Trump.
He told people to vote as if his name was on the ballot. They did.
And Republican candidates were crushed almost everywhere.
I will go through the horrific details in a separate post, but the headline is clear: the voters rose up and rejected Trump. Which raises the question — WHY?
I see lots of Republican commentators blame it on the Iran war. In essence they suggest that Trump was voted in on an explicit “No More Foreign Wars” manifesto. He broke that when he went to war with the Ayatollah. Gas prices have skyrocketed and all Americans feel that in their pocket. So the argument goes that it was a colossal mistake to start the Iran war.
My take is different. It was RIGHT to start the Iran war but WRONG not to finish it. Back in January I pleaded that only a fast and total destruction of the Tehran tyranny would work and that dragging it out for months would be a catastrophic mistake. The American public would have accepted the downfall of the Tehran regime over a few short weeks followed by reduced gas prices. Neither happened. Trump dithered and seemed unwilling to wipe out the evil Mullahs. I don’t know why. But Iran was given breathing space and it has held out against the United States, and THAT is a massive humiliation.
So the way I see it, the Ayatollah won a posthumous victory and the world will be more dangerous because of it. Be under NO ILLUSION. Iran is still ruled by an apocalyptic death cult that wants to wipe Israel off the map. Trump told Israel to back off finishing the job when it could have. That was the big mistake.
Some people are now saying that JD Vance is best placed to stand in 2028. He was known to be a critic of the Iran war and some feel he can use that to differentiate his non-interventionist stance from that of Trump. I disagree. As Ron DeSantis has pointed out, the scale of this defeat will not be reversed until at least 2032, by which time I am not sure that America will even look like America. The Dems will win the Presidency in 2028, hold the Senate and House, and change everything.
President Trump will be kneecapped for the two years of his Presidency and the Democrats will lawfare against all of those around Trump. This is a bad morning and there is no sugar coating it. A radical Democrat Party has energized the electorate and it seems there is nothing wrong with voting in Muslim Brotherhood enthusiast Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan or returning Ilhan Omar in Minnesota. Some of the most radical pro-Palestinian Democrat candidates have succeeded in grasping power.
