It’s the oldest trick in the political book. We SIMPLY have to do this “for the children”.
It doesn’t matter much what the “this” is – they are manipulating you to accept it.
Which brings us to the newly announced social media ban for 16 year olds and under. Starmer’s authoritarian instincts are on full display for you to see, it’s what he likes to do (when he isn’t threatening you with the “full weight of the law”)
So let’s fully understand what is happening.
This isn’t about “keeping children safe”, you only have to look at Labour’s disinterest in the predatory muslim rape gangs that prey on young girls to understand that! It’s about trying to control the information flows that young people can access. Starmer wants them denied the plurality of information available on social media so that they can get what is required from regime media like the BBC. Then when they hit 16 years, they will have been State broadcaster propagandised for more than a decade and ready to vote. See how that bit of it works?
Bizarrely, there is even the plan to impose a CURFEW on 16 and 17 years olds accessing YouTube in the evenings. There are already voices calling to extend this ban for young people up to the age of 21 years. The Left love the idea of banning but when you consider the Conservatives SUPPORT this ban, you realise it is a Uniparty thing. Reform and Restore should oppose this.
We know from the Australian situation that young people easily can find workarounds around these bans but I don’t think Starmer cares but none of this is about the kids,
It is about imposing a Digital ID on the adults. If you want to access Apple or Google then you must provide visual ID. Once given, your anonymity is gone. The Big Tech companies will hold your details and a Government or Police request will reveal you to them.
Digital ID creates the ultimate control grid. And that’s why lies behind this social media ban for Under 16’s, it is the all powerful state deciding for you what you watch or with who you communicate.
This is classic government expansion: legitimate problem (youth mental health, addiction by design) meets blunt tool (bans + verification) with predictable side effects (circumvention, privacy erosion, normalisation of ID checks).
The State always wants to REPLACE the role of Parent. That is why “Free Breakfast Clubs” are pushed with such vengeance. Parents SHOULD feed their offspring but don’t worry about, Government will take care of that for you. Parents SHOULD control what their kids access on the Internet but don’t worry about, Government will take care of it for you.
I entirely reject this “Social Media Ban” and the motives behind it.
