The headline is sickening. As of this week the Royal Navy — once the mightiest fleet on Earth — is down to just five operational frigates. Five. An island nation that built its entire identity and security on sea power now has fewer escorts than some third-rate powers. By contrast, in 1982, we had 40 operational frigates. This is a National humiliation.
