I’m afraid that these 15‑minute cities are just not going away despite official denials! Of course they are sold to us as just a gentle planning tweak: redesigning neighbourhoods so that most daily needs—work, shops, schools, healthcare and leisure—are available within a short walk. On paper, that might sound reasonable. What could be nicer? But the way Labour‑run authorities are moving to implement the concept reveals the dark side. It’s a model that leans heavily on restrictions, surveillance and top‑down control. It’s a grid.
