Let’s be honest, the US and EU are not allies, they are rivals.
Could that rivalry end up in an actual war? That might seem far fetched but collision is already happening in several areas and I wonder if it could escalate further into real conflict?
The European Union has a population of about 449 million people. The United States has a population of about 347 million. The US was founded on the principles of freedom and liberty, the EU emerged from the smouldering ashes of WW2 and has become a vast bureaucratic autocracy that takes a very different approach on many issues.
Unlike the US, it seeks to limit speech and to censor opinions it doesn’t like. All Social Media platform, many of which are US owned, face increasing censorship in the EU and it is this conflict over basic principles which has resulted in President Trump barring some of the most egregious censors from being able to enter the US. This has absolutely triggered the EU tyrants.
To give you an idea as to how Orwellian the EU has become, listen to Ursula von Der Leyen explain why arresting people for free speech protects free speech!
In case you thought that a one off, try this, where the unelected Von der Leyen described free speech as a “virus”..!
It’s not just the issue of free speech that illuminates a chasm and a conflict between the EU and the US, consider the Ukraine-Russia conflict. The EU is doing everything it can to derail the peace attempts of President Trump and in 2025, it is the EU that is providing the vast majority of funding to Zelensky.
The EU is also massively in favour of Open Borders and has willingly imported millions of third world migrants, forever changing the demography of the European land mass. Whilst the US has sealed the southern border and deported some migrants, the EU can’t get enough of them and is even trying to put a pact in place to force all members states to take a share.
Then there is the trade war between the EU and US which Trump has sought to re-balance. Up until this point, the EU imposed tariffs and restrictions on US products, this year they got pay back.
The EU is pro Climate Change and Net Zero insanity. The US is against this lunacy.
The more you look at it, the more you see that the US and EU have little in common and much that separates them.
It’s not just the lust for censorship that is the big threat from Brussels, it is the thirst for WAR with Russia that worries me the most. Now a lot of this is just bellicose theatrics but seeking to provoke Russia is a real global threat and the EU seems keen to make it. All it would take is a black flag incident engineered by the EU/Ukrainians and WW3 becomes at least a possibility. At that point, would the US intervene?
The US has the military might and capability. This is what restrains EU ambitions but at some point might the US have to deploy that capability against the tyrants in Brussels?
