1973 – the best year for Christmas songs?

It’s approaching Christmas in 1973 and the number one song is a barnstormer by Brum based Slade called “Merry Christmas Everybody”, featuring the howling vocals of Mr Noddy Holder. I remember at the time being a bit annoyed it got to number one because there was ANOTHER song flying up the charts then that I much preferred but it didn’t quite make it. And come to think of it, there was a THIRD Christmas classic at the very same time!
