In a strange plot twist, deep in the chambers of London’s Salvation Army Regent Hall, the Muslim Council of Britain has issued a veiled threat: a ban on halal slaughter might drive Muslims to “seek a more suitable country.”
OK, I’m not quite sure what the problem is with this, in fact, that’s all the more reason to do it!
For absolute clarity, Halal slaughter means slashing an animal’s throat without stunning, letting it bleed out in agony. It’s a dark ages brutality that is incompatible with our hard-won standards in animal welfare. Above all it has no place here in the UK.
If Islam demands such cruelty, perhaps it’s the faith, not the nation, that needs re-evaluation. Rooted in seventh-century edicts, halal mandates invoking Allah’s name before a cut, ensuring blood drains as the creature thrashes in terror.
However, reputable studies from the European Food Safety Authority document prolonged suffering. This can mean up to two minutes of gasping, convulsing pain for sheep, even longer for cattle. In undercover footage from UK abattoirs, animals dangle inverted, eyes wide in panic, throats gaping like crimson wounds. It’s awful.
Halal is ritualised torture, a blood-soaked spectacle and along with others I want it gone. Yet if we are honest about it, halal is everywhere.
It permeates supermarket shelves often unlabelled, tainting at least 20% of meat. A nation of dog-lovers are being force-fed barbarism under the guise of diversity. And Brits are being gaslit into silence, lest they be branded bigots. The MCB’s exodus ploy should be taken at face value. Ban Halal NOW and end the barbarity – if they can’t accept this, so be it.
I will take animal welfare over indulging such savagery to please Muslims..
