OK, just when you thought that this Government could not betray us any further, it goes and proves otherwise. The Telegraph reports that the Home Office has directed hotels housing asylum seekers to also accommodate foreign criminals awaiting deportation. WTF!
These hotels, already under intense scrutiny from local people for hosting illegal migrants, now face the challenge of managing convicted migrant offenders. We don’t know what the crimes are but I am sure we could provide an educated guess! This move raises another red flag for local communities, hotel owners, and campaigners. If these people have been convicted of crime, why the hell would they be accommodated in a HOTEL pending deportation? What is to stop them committing more crimes from that hotel base? Doesn’t this make every such hotel a real and present danger?
Of course this new Home Office’s decision follows in the wake of the surge in migrant numbers. Over 38,000 asylum seekers currently are housed in hotels, costing us taxpayers £5.5 million daily. The government says it wants to clear the asylum backlog, but the inclusion of foreign criminals in these facilities makes things worse. We have all seen the existing safety risks, especially after incidents involving migrants entering private homes. Women and children have reason to now feel doubly unsafe as the Government places convicted foreign criminals in the heart of many communities.
It feels more and more like the Government WANTS to provoke civil unrest.
