Usually, the first 100 days of a new Political administration is characterised by a “honeymoon period” with the public and particularly when it comes to power on the back of a massive landslide as was the case with Labour on July 4th 2024.
However these first 100 days of Labour in power has been an unmitigated catastrophe and this is acutely evidenced in some new polling. For starters, Labour has now LOST the lead it has held over the Conservatives for the past 963 days. Ever since March 2022, Labour has been ahead of the Conservatives. No longer. Buyers remorse has kicked in and this is all BEFORE the Budget in a few weeks. As you can see, Labour is now tied with the Conservatives and Reform is only 6 points behind both of them.
It gets worse! When asked what Labour’s best achievement has been the resounding answer is….NOTHING!
This is clear evidence that being in Government is a lot harder than just sniping from opposition but it all comes down to leadership and that is where we see the core problem – it’s Sir Keir Starmer.
To put it in perspective…
This is alarmingly low but not that surprising when we review his robotic charmless adenoidal performance. He came to power telling us things would have to get worse before they get better! He then started sending concerned patriots to prison as they protested the slaughter of three young girls in Southport. He then took away Pensioners Cold Weather Payments which has caused great distress to many.
The Labour plan is to try and blame everything on “14 years of Tory failure” and the imaginary “£22bn black hole” but it seems that this doesn’t cut mustard with the public! If this is how bad 100 days, what will the next 1726 days bring?
Just 100 days ago, I feared we were looking at 10 years of hard Labour but that is no longer the case. I think Starmer will be lucky to make 5 years.
