Before we leave this year, I thought I might put together 12 images that sum up this year. starting back in January with the inauguration of Donald Trump as President.
This was an absolutely EPIC moment and amidst all the political darkness, the light shone through. I was delighted and give thanks for this blessing.
Just over a month later, there was this memorable encounter between President Trump and Ukrainian grifter Zelensky. It did not go well for the Ukrainian! It was a joy to watch as both President Trump and V-P JD Vance explained who held all the cards.
Moving into March and UK PM Starmer outlined “a coalition of the willing” strategy with France and allies to sustain military aid to Ukraine and keep the war going.
Moving to the start of May, we saw Reform UK won 677 council seats and take overall control of 10 councils. Reform also gained its fifth MP in the Runcorn and Helsby by-election. In summary, Reform achieved 31% national vote share, outpolling Labour and Conservatives for the first time in local elections, signalling a shift from two-party dominance amid immigration and economic discontent
Moving away from the political scene (sort of) 2025 saw US actress Sydney Sweeney gain global fame. She gained a lot of attention for her “Good Jeans” ad and also following some outstanding media appearances.
But for me, this is the image of Sweeney which was absolutely memorable. Her withering contempt for a liberal journalist trying to get her to apologise for “good genes” was exceptional. She became lionised by the right!
Late June saw Israel strike Iranian nuclear sites and then the US joined with airstrikes; Iran retaliated with missiles killing dozens in Israel; Trump announced unconfirmed ceasefire amid 240+ Iranian deaths.
That concludes part 1. The 2nd part will follow later!
