Britain’s George Floyd moment?

Is Britain witnessing the creation of a new political martyr? Following the death of Professor Jason Arday and a huge Trafalgar Square vigil, I examine how legitimate questions about his academic record risk being recast as evidence of racism.

I ask whether compassion for a tragic death should ever require us to abandon scrutiny, overlook uncomfortable facts, or rewrite somebody’s story. And I consider the bigger question: did academia itself help create the very circumstances it now condemns?
