Were the early Irish black?

New ”scientific evidence” suggests that the early Irish were dark/black skinned with blue eyes. How plausible is this?

No, “Black Irish” refers to the Irish people who have BLACK hair, as opposed to red or blond.

My father was Irish and he had black hair . He was known as paddy dhu locally ( county donegal ).
Dhu means black .
Others would be called Ban if they had light hair colouring ( ban means white ) . For example, Mickey Ban .
